Packaging development

Complete in-house packaging development:
from conception to production.

Single-site packaging production and decoration has a significant impact on reducing leadtimes, as well as controlling and optimizing the entire development and production process. Complete project development with an integrated tool shop and the availability of all necessary technologies enable us to anticipate potential defects and eliminate them up front. Likewise, trials and modifications are carried out ‘on the spot’.

Production technologies

Since 1962, Pollena has been implementing, step by step, key packaging development technologies that now enable us to offer complete packaging solutions.

IM

Our total capacity in injection technology is of around 620 million units per year. Every year we invest in new electric and hybrid machines to ensure safe levels of spare capacity.

ISBM

For ISBM production, we mainly use food-certified PET PCR. Our machine park provides a capacity of several million units per year. We work with one-step and zero cooling technology, which makes it possible to reduce cycle time with perfect reheating and conditioning of the packaging. We guarantee the highest precision of threads and flexibility of bottle or jar shape.

EBM

In double-layer co-extrusion, we produce HDPE and PP bottles for the beauty industry as well as for household chemicals.

Hot-stamping

Our modern and automated machines are equipped with camera inspection systems and automatic packaging modules. We can apply up to 5 different foil colors in a single pass.
We print on flat, round and curved surfaces, including double printing (foil on foil).

UV screen printing

We can offer printing on flat and circular surfaces, up to 4 colors in a single pass. The machines are equipped with camera inspection systems to pick up potential defects. We also print on lacquered and metallized packaging.

Assembly

Our machine park consists of both: multi-purpose and dedicated machines for individual projects. We carry out automatic assembly, ultrasonic welding, with or without gluing, from 2 to even several elements. The machines are equipped with sensors to detect any possible defective assembly (missing piece, missing EPE liner etc.)

Tool shop

The tool shop is the heart of our company, beating since 1962. Designing and manufacturing molds as part of the internal process allows us to manage the development accordingly. We eliminate potential risks and carry out modifications without significantly affecting the project timeline.

We develop prototype cavities, pilot molds and a variety of production molds: with hot- and cold-runners, molds with stripper rings, unscrewed and collapsible cores. We develop between 20 and 30 molds per year with cavitation of between 2 and 32 cavities.

In 2019, we invested in a brand new, extremely neat tool shop space equipped with a mold storage room, ultrasonic washer, EDM machines, laser engraving unit, Mitutoyo measuring center and 3D printers.

Metallization

The icing on the cake (but not the last!), was has been the establishment of our own Metallization Department and the launch of our metallization and UV varnishing lines, thanks to which, in just a few years, we have achieved the status of one of the leading metallization suppliers in Europe. We guarantee high quality, competitiveness, but above all agility and production flexibility. Since 2023, we have been offering metallization and varnishing as a service to our partners in the processing sector.
